Mindfulness & Consciousness Development 

Consciousness has to do with the awareness of perceptions, thoughts, and feelings within. We can be relatively aware of the external world but Consciousness Development and Mindfulness allows us to be more accepting of the Truth of our inner world, and more in touch with the wisdom of our body and the insight it offers.

Mindfulness is an awareness technique which supports you to discover and pay attention to often unconscious thoughts, sensations, emotions and urges which can overwhelm and cause stress, anxiety, depression and all manner of struggles in life.

Consciousness Development uses Mindfulness as a method of focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. It is a practice-based, exploratory and experiential process.

Practicing mindfulness meditation alters areas of the brain which affect our emotional wellbeing. The result is a calmer, more relaxed, less immediate reactivity to challenging circumstances which normally trigger the stress response, anxiety or depressive states. Changes in attention and emotional regulation can be felt within weeks. The key is to develop a lifelong practice to maintain and/or improve brain development gained through mindfulness meditation.
